How OELLEN can help

Businesses can get involved by offering real-world learning opportunities that go beyond the classroom. This could include things like hosting workplace tours, supporting young ambassador programs, attending career expos, or providing work placements.

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) is on-the-job training where a student develops specific skills linked to their school program. This could be part of VET in Schools, the VCE, VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM), or the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC).

There’s no cost to your business, our support is funded by the Victorian Government through the Department of Education. The minimum commitment is just five days. Five days that can make a real difference for a young person and help you connect with your future workforce.

SWL placements are structured with clear goals and outcomes. This ensures students gain practical skills that meet industry standards at AQF Level 1 or higher.

We’re here to make the process easy, let us help you set up a Structured Workplace Learning placement.

Industry testimonial

Gem Group Director Alex Garner and apprentice Ben Amell share with us how an SWL placement led to huge benefits for both of them.

“I would say to other employers who are looking at taking on an apprentice, to start off with a VCAL (VM) student” - Alex
