What Is A School-Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT)?
An SBAT is defined as a full time program that integrates education, training and employment as indicated below:

• VCAL or VCE credit for the vocational training component of the Apprenticeship or Traineeship
• A negotiated training plan that has been signed and endorsed by the student’s school
• Paid employment with the terms and conditions covered by appropriate industrial arrangements
• SBATs offer students (typically Years 10-12, or VCAL Year 11 to 12) the opportunity to study at school whilst at the same time undertaking government approved and accredited training qualifications as paid employees.
